Approximately 2,882 million liters of Sewage water per day. Surprisingly, only 15% is treated

The first things that come to mind when we hear Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are Charminar, Hyderabadi Biryani, or the city that never sleeps Hyderabad. When it comes to Andhra Pradesh, people most commonly think about the beautiful and clean beaches and forests to top it up with a relaxed feeling. However, this has a secret that nobody pays attention to but is present and gnawing at the young women. Curious to know what it is? Keep on reading to discover what these states are struggling with. The most basic human need, water, is scarce and unsafe for millions of people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This problem is not just a number – it is the daily truth for rural and urban populations. But let’s dive deeper into what exactly the problem is and what all of us can do for the future.

The Water Woes: Facts Speak Louder Than Words

Andhra Pradesh produces approximately 2,882 million liters of sewage water per day. Surprisingly, only 15% is treated, and the rest flows into rivers, homes, and agricultural lands without being treated. In Telangana, districts and cities including Hyderabad and Warangal are facing high TDS and water hardness which makes water unfit for drinking and other uses. More than 180 villages in Andhra Pradesh are severely affected by water scarcity in the form of groundwater. In rural Andhra Pradesh, 42% of the communities are still deprived of clean and safe drinking water which is a major problem.

A Closer Look at the Impact

The water crisis isn’t just about scarcity—it affects every aspect of life:   Health Hazards: The diseases that are related to water include diarrhea, and typhoid, which are caused by untreated water. Education Loss: Girls and boys are forced to miss school and instead help their families in fetching water. Economic Strain: Farmers are affected by low yields because of inadequate water for use in irrigation.
